The 1st workshop was held in Basel, Switzerland in September 1990.Topics included safety assessment, risk reduction and safety educationin the chemical industry. Case studies, including visits to chemicalplants of IUPAC Company Associates CIBA-GEIGY, Hoffman-La Roche andSandoz, were a unique feature of the workshop. [Chem. Int. 13(2),50-60 (1991)]
Proceedingswere published and edited by J. Whiston.
The 2nd workshop was held in Yokohama, Japan in June 1993. The programcovered safety management, education and training, evaluation of hazards, and engineering, and included cases studies involving visits to localinductries. [Chem. Int. 16(2), 41-46 (1994)]
The 3rd and most recent workshop was organized in SanFrancisco, USA in April 1997, joint with the ACS.
