Measurements of Redox Potentials of Proteins
| Project No.: | 130-3-89 |

The measurement of redox potentials of proteins is one of the most important and fundamental biophysical measurements necessary to understanding of bioenergetics. Many, if not most of the persons making these measurements are not electrochemists and are not therefore conversant in the fundamental and experimental aspects of redox potential determination. In addition, the interpretation of results is similarly important. In the preparation of this report, it will be necessary to draw on the expertise of individuals in the areas of electrochemistry, biochemistry, solution chemistry and thermodynamics to present an integrated and consistent picture. Such a document will be designed for the non-electrochemist, thus fostering better communication and understanding within the field of chemistry of which biochemistry is certainly a part. Thus encouraging and promoting communication through this report is an appropriate activity for IUPAC.
The project is in draft form, and, following the GA Meeting in Berlin should be sent out for review as a technical report.
