Project Details:

Electroanalytical Biosensors: Recommended Definitions and Classification (revised title)

Project No.:170-1-87
Start date:1987-01-01
End date:1999-12-31
Division:Physical and Biophysical Chemistry Division
Objective:

The rapid proliferation of biosensors and their diversity has led to a lack of precision in terminology and rigor in the definition of performance criteria. Although each biosensor can only truly be evaluated for a particular application, it is the aim of this report to establish a classification system for electrochemical biosensors and standard protocols for their performance criteria.

Progress:

The draft of the final document was reviewed by the members of CommissionsI.7 and V.5, by four editors of leading journals and fourteen expertsin this field of research. Their comments have been incorporated inthe final document which have been revised during Berlin General assembly.A final and revised manuscript of the report is been submitted toPure and Applied Chemistry in February 2000.
