Project Details:
Description and Analysis of IYC Activities
| Project No.: | 2012-009-1-020 |
| Start date: | 2012-06-01 |
| End date: | 0000-00-00 |
| Division: | Executive Committee |
This is a project to analyze the successes of IYC and to identify its ongoing legacy. Part of that project would entail sending a questionnaire to the various organizations that have participated in IYC activities. Â Most prominent among these organizations are the various chemical societies around the world. The task group would analyze these data, report to the IUPAC Bureau, and ultimately share the results with IYC participants.
A questionnaire will be sent to organizations that participated in IYC, notably National Chemical Societies. In summary the questions are:
- Could you summarize or highlight the activities that your organization carried out during the International Year of Chemistry (IYC)?Â
- How did you measure the success of your activities in relation to the objectives of IYC?Â
- What partnerships did you establish during IYC and which of those will continue?
- In general what is the ongoing legacy of IYC for your organization?
- Describe your interactions with IUPAC during IYC. Did you make extensive use of the IYC website?Â
The following step would entail an extensive analysis of the data. We would be particularly interested in IUPAC and UNESCO’s roles in the success of IYC. We would seek to identify common themes and to assess the effectiveness of the various activities. One focus would be the ongoing legacy of IYC for IUPAC, UNESCO and the participating Chemical Societies. The project would also consider the effectiveness of outreach activities and the effects on governments and decision makers.
The Task Group consists of several individuals who played a central role in IYC from different countries and organizations.Â
