Project Details:

Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in Pure and Binary Solvent Mixtures (Update of Volumes 54, 58 and 59)

Project No.:2012-025-1-500
Start date:2012-12-01
End date:0000-00-00
Division:Analytical Chemistry Division
Objective:

Series: Solubility Data Series; editor-in-chief: Mark Salomon

This project will compile and evaluate solubility data for crystalline polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon solutes dissolved in neat organic solvents and organic solvent mixtures.

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon solubility data in organic solvents were compiled by W. E. Acree, Jr. within Solubility Data Series (see Volumes 54, 58 and 59) in 1994 and 1995. Since that time number of reported measurements for these systems increased about three times.

The Project will be divided into three parts:

  1. Solubility data in binary organic solvent systems
  2. Solubility data in ternary organic solvent systems
  3. Solubility data in neat organic solvents

The results of this work will be prepared in the standard format of the IUPAC-NIST Solubility Data Series for publication in the Journal of Physical and Chemical Reference Data and for inclusion in a web-accessible database being prepared by the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

Description:

Under the direction of the Subcommittee on Solubility and Equilibrium Data (SSED) of the Analytical Chemistry Division, the IUPAC Solubility Data Project (SDP) compiles and evaluates data on solubility and disseminates the resulting information to the widest possible range of users by traditional (printed) and electronic (web-accessible database) means.

The systems to be covered by this project fit within the priority focus area identified in the phantom proposal, Solubility Related to Industrial Processes.
