Project Details:

Establishing International Comparability of Measurements of Trace Elements in Natural Water (IMEP-6)

Project No.:240-6-93
Start date:1993-01-01
End date:1998-12-31
Division:Inorganic Chemistry Division
Objective:

The measurement of water quality is of paramount importance to human health. Despite being a theoretically easy matrix to analyze, water analyses are often in wide disagreement among laboratories. The IMEP-6 programme examined water analytical data quality on a global scale using certified test samples with reference values determined by a primary method of measurement (isotope dilution mass spectrometry).

Description:
No description available.
Progress:
More than 150 participants were involve in the programme. Thereference values for 14 elements in natural and artificial water wereestablished by the cooperation of 4 national laboratories in 3 countries.
