Determination of Iodine Species in Environmental and Biological Samples

The aim of the project is to review critically methods for the analysis of iodine species in environmental and biological samples to offer guidance on method use, and to briefly indicate future developments. Iodine is known as an essential element which distributes widely in the environment. Iodine speciation is necessary for understanding of its physiological, toxicological implication as well as of its geochemical cycling in the environment. Another aspect of its significance is of radio isotope iodine which is emitted into the environment from nuclear plants, demand being coming from the treatment and prevention of the radio-isotope. A critical review of analytical method of iodine species, and guidance on the method used will be given in the projects. The project is important not only because of its scientific significance but also of its application to wide range of disciplines for the chemists worldwide.
