Project Details:

Risk Assessment; Educational Material

Project No.:720-8-95
Start date:1995-01-01
End date:2001-12-31
Division:Chemistry and Human Health Division
Objective:

Risk assessment for processes using chemicals is now mandatory in many countries. It is required for decision making about such processes at all levels from bench chemistry up to international regulation. However, although much has been written about it, there is still no broad agreement on best practice. In particular, the interface with toxicology has not always had a sound scientific base. This topic is being addressed at the forthcoming ComTox Seminar in Luxembourg in October (1999?). In the light of the conclusions and recommendations from this, and their own expertise, the group will identify the areas of risk assessment which ComTox may address effectively and define achievable projects in this area.
