The Supplement to The History of IUPAC continues the story of IUPAC to 1999, the 80th anniversary of the founding of IUPAC. It covers the years in which IUPAC underwent a number of significant changes as it adapted to the changes in the science of chemistry and the globalization of the chemical sciences.
The author, who has been involved with the Union in several capacities,describes, inter alia, IUPAC's work in the areas of nomenclature,symbols, terminology, standards, symposia, and publications. The emphasis on the changes made to adapt an early 20th century organization to the needs of the 21st century.
