Objective

This topic is one of significant and active interest in the scientific community as it has important implications not only in electrochemistry but in many other aspects of surface science.

Progress
In order to respond to the rapid developments in the field of local probes, Commission I.3 has decided to edit a monograph on this important subject. Forty-three individuals active in this area have been identified and twenty-three have agreed to participate. Project completed - report reference: Pure Appl. Chem., 70(7), 1395-1414, 1998 and erratum including reference list, Pure Appl. Chem., 70(12), 2409-2412, 1998.
