Objective
This project includes compilations and critical evaluations for the solubility of rare earth metal (Sc, Y, La and all Ln) chlorides in water and aqueous systems. This report supplements the previous elaboration [1]dealing with rare earth metal chlorides in non-aqueous solvents.

[1] T. Mioduski & M. Salomon, IUPAC Solubility Data Series; Sc, Y, La and Ln Halides in Non-aqueous Solvents, Vol. 22, Pergamon, Oxford, 1985.
Description
A complete set of compilations will be prepared for the solubilities of all rare earth metal chlorides in water, aqueous solutions of hydrochloric acid, salts and organic compounds. The set of compilations related to a selected metal will be introduced with a critical evaluation of all related results, a schema of partial phase diagram of the binary LnCl3-H2O system and a selection of suggested solubility data. Only simple salts of type LnCl3 (hydrates but no complexes of Ln), used as input substances, are treated in this report.

Rare earth metal chlorides are very important substances used to production of inorganic compounds and alloys as well as as catalysts in various organic syntheses. The systems to be covered by this project fit within the priority focus area identified in the phantom proposal, Solubility Related to Industrial Processes.
