Because the solubilities of ester-water systems are of considerable importance and widespread interest among several groups including industrial and environmental chemists, because the earlier volumes are now difficult to obtain and are over 17 years out of date, and because a new technique of data evaluation has been developed, the decision was made to revise and update this work as a new volume. This revised work will be published in four parts as listed below.
• Part 1: C2 to C4 Esters.
• Part 2: C5 and C6 Esters.
• Part 3: C7 to C9 Esters.
• Part 4: C10 to C32 Esters.
This new work incorporates compilations based on recent and previously overlooked reports, and new evaluations for systems where two or more independent measurements of solubility have been reported. To facilitate comparison of data, all original results are expressed in terms of mass fraction (expressed as a percentage) and mole fraction as well as the units reported by the original investigators.
