Project: Seniority of Detachable Prefixes Based on CIP Priorities

Number: 310/27/98
Start: 01 January 1998
End: 31 December 2001
Project of
Objective

Use of the priority system devised by Cahn, Ingold and Prelog (CIP priorities) to replace the alphabetical order in the citation of detachable prefixes in IUPAC names.

Progress
  • Dr. Wisniewski implemented Ranking Rules "a", "b", "c" and "h" of the Stereochemistry Document (dated August 1998) and run it over a sample of more then 12,000 structures from the Beilstein Database. The success rate was 93,8%. The other ranking rules still need to be implemented and the feasiblity of thr whole ordering practice based on CIP checked for more complex cases.
