Objective
Several liquid chromatographic methods have been extensively used for molecular characterization of polymers since the mid-sixties. They are based on a single separation mechanism, viz. either exclusion or adsorption. Within the last few years, however, numerous new liquid chromatographic methods were introduced that couple two and more separation mechanisms, for which is necessary to create a consistent nomenclature. The work will be based on the general "Nomenclature for Chromatography" (Pure Appl. Chem. 65, 819 (1993)) which will be updated.
Progress
- This collaborative project was launched in Geneva. M. Hess is coordinating the activities of IV.1 on the project. A list of terms was prepared by D. Berek and M. Hess for discussion in Berlin.
