Project: Quality of Chemical Data in Databases

Number: 630/17/93
Start: 01 January 1993
End: 31 December 2000

Objective

The objective of this project is to provide guidelines for reporting of environmental data with regard to supporting information that enables the user to judge the quality of the data reported. Items to be covered include information on methods used, results of duplication of experiments, outliners, statistical information, possible extrapolation of the results beyond the testing range. End points to be considered will include the physical chemical properties of pollutants that are needed to assess their environmental fate.

Progress

During the recent Berlin meeting of the Commission, it was decided that the topic of this project is of potential interest within a broader context. It was therefore decided that interdivisional co-operation will be sought for continuation. A new proposal for a Task Group on this topic will be prepared to initiate interdivisional co-operation including contributions from Commissions VI.1 and VI.2 (Action: Dr. Peijnenburg ). It was also decided that the Task Force should also consider the code of practice in reporting analytical data; the latter topic is part of one of the projects of the Soil and Water Chemistry Commission.

Project terminated - this topic of potentiel interest within a broader context is to be reformulated as a new interdivisional proposal.
