Abstract: Atmospheric pressure nonequilibrium plasmas have made a recent remarkable progress in formation techniques including atmospheric pressure glow discharge (APG), dielectric barrier discharge (DBD), corona discharge, surface discharge, ultrashort pulsed discharge, etc., and are expanding their applications into the field of energy and environment as well as material conversion processes. This paper will especially focus on a large improvement of DBD by combining it with squared ultrashort high voltage pulses and various applications.
